This Easter weekend was fantastic. But we are all so exhausted on this Monday. Isaac and Adrian had five Easter egg hunts in two days and collectively put about 10 eggs into their baskets during those five hunts. It was so much fun, though.
The Easter bunny came to our house Friday night, so the boys found their baskets and hunted for eggs in our basement Saturday morning. We did let them eat a few pieces of candy. It was the first time they have ever had candy (as far as we know). They enjoyed that. They were not too interested in placing their eggs in their baskets. They really just wanted to put one in each hand and run around.
Saturday morning we went to the Kirksville Country Club and hunted eggs, met the Easter Bunny and had brunch. The boys loved the Easter Bunny. They kept running over to him and putting their hands up so he would hold them. That was fun to watch. Between the two of them, they picked up a total of one egg during this hunt. Isaac just wanted to run. Adrian picked up an egg, stood there holding it, watching the other kids run around. It was a bit overwhelming for him.
Saturday afternoon, we had a neighborhood Easter Egg hunt. Grandma Oleva and the boys’ cousin Palmer came over to participate in this hunt. Dave and our neighbor Tim hid 436 eggs in our back yards for around 17 kids. The boys participated slightly better for this hunt, but mostly they just wanted to run around. They are like caged animals when they are let loose outside.
Grandma Oleva took Isaac & Adrian home with her Saturday night and they attended 6:30 am sunrise Easter services with her and Grandpa Dave.
Sunday, we had a delicious lunch at Grandma and Grandpa B’s and another egg hunt with more baskets. We had Sunday dinner at Grandma Oleva and Grandpa Dave’s with more baskets and another egg hunt. Then we went to visit Grandpa Ron and Elaine and got some dump trucks to put in their sand box, some huge chocolate bunnies and some cookies. I’m just exhausted typing it all.
I can’t wait to teach the boys why we celebrate Easter. I want them to know it’s not all about eggs and candy.
